June 15, 2021
Partnership

Summer is here: good weather, good vibes, and lots of people looking to stay safe and have a good time. And starting today, your summer plans can do good.

Today we’re kicking off SUMMER REDISCOVE(RED), (RED)’s first-ever digital festival to fight COVID and AIDS. Join us from almost any device for 5 weeks of food, wellness, music, gaming, education, merch, and so much more. Thanks to the generosity of Merck (known as MSD outside the U.S. and Canada), the festival makes it simple for everyone to join (RED) and support programs that help millions of people impacted by global health emergencies.

Tomorrow, June 16th, marks the first installment of the (RED) ALL-STAR KITCHEN, a four-part interactive series pairing celebrities with top chefs for live cooking tutorials. Host Billy Harris will be joined by singer and songwriter, P!NK and Chef Andrew Zimmern, ‘Black-ish’ star Anthony Anderson and Chef Aarón Sánchez, actor and comedian Joel McHale and Chef Kristen Kish, as well as Al Roker and ChefTyler Florence! Even if you can’t cook or won’t cook, join anyway and learn how to mix the perfect cocktail with top mixologist, Charlotte Voisey. All four (RED) ALL-STAR KITCHEN events are graciously supported by Merck.

Tickets to each interactive cook-along are limited and priced at just $25 (plus ticketing fees), and thanks to generous dollar matching by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, every ticket purchased will result in $100 to the Global Fund. Yes, you read that right: when you spend only $25 (plus ticketing fees), you get to cook with the stars AND $100 goes to the Global Fund, so it’s a true win-win!

In addition to the first cook along, this week’s festival lineup includes (INSIDE THE PARENS), a three-part digital series of panel conversations around the systemic issues facing women and girls, multicultural communities and the LGBTQ+ community in the fight against pandemics. Stand-up comedian, New York Times best-selling writer, and actress, Phoebe Robinson, will host the series, joined by a variety of guests including Javier Muñoz, actor and activist, Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, and Carmen Villar, vice president of social business innovation at Merck.

Thanks to Merck’s continued support over the last two years, (RED) has been able to engage even more people in the fight to strengthen global health systems and fight against pandemics like AIDS and COVID!
